I have been working with Dr. Velez and the team since March 2025 and it has been a wonderful experience. I have done two egg retrievals, as well as two uterine polyp removals and an embryo transfer. What most impresses me is how quickly they see me and how accessible Dr. Velez is. I have reached out to him after hours with panicked questions and he always answers, providing ease of mind. He worked with me during my endometriosis surgery in between retrievals and made sure everything was checked repeatedly before doing a transfer. The clinic is in a modern high rise that can be seen right from the border. It is easy for us to drive across and use their valet service. Driving to/from TJ does add extra time that I wouldn’t normally deal with in the states, however the money I’m saving is insanely worth it. I highly recommend the clinic and all of the staff!❤️

Dr. Cristabel is the sweetest doctor anyone could ask for. She went above and beyond making sure I was listened to, felt cared for, and that my timeline was respected. There are always hiccups in IVF. Things don’t go as planned. She worked with me to come up with the best plan for ME. It means a lot to have a doctor that actually cares about you as a person. You can tell she loves her job and she is good at it. Melanie is an embryologist and a wizard. I had asked for a girl because I have one boy already. Well thanks to an expert embryologist I had 3 girls to choose from. I will likely never have to do an egg retrieval again. Of course this is partially good luck but also skill. Sara, Denise, everyone at the front desk was also very accommodating and helpful. They knew me by name and cared for me, getting me last minute acupuncture appointments, finding me pharmacies with the right medications, and arranging rides to the border. The total cost was higher than the 10,200 I was originally quoted because of emergency procedures I had to undergo to save my cycle or prevent my timeline from going awry. I probably paid an extra 3,000 for those procedures. The meds are also “covered” but only for the egg retrieval itself. So you will pay an extra 1,200-2,000 for the medications you need until 10 weeks of pregnancy. Overall I do think this is still cheaper than IVF in the United States, particularly considering genetic testing was included, I saw a doctor with every visit, the embryologist spoke to me personally and achieved the gender I wanted for family balancing which eliminates needs for future egg retrievals, and the meds are so much cheaper in Tijuana. In California you can find doctors that will do it for that price, but you’re not going to get that level of personalized care. The one downside is waiting for a long time at the borders if you walk across, factoring in getting lost and having to pay off the Mexican police a few times if you drive across (keep like exactly $40-50 on you and don’t fall for any scams where they request $300), and in general having to deal with crossing a border because it’s a pain. Crossing with fertility meds is fine though, you will not be flagged or pulled over. Both the clinic and fertilifarma (the pharmacy most people in the U.S. go through) is within walking distance of the border, and it’s a safe walk during the day. I hope this review helps somebody considering doing IVF in Tijuana! I had a lovely experience that was ultimately successful within 3 months of starting the injections for egg retrievals.
