We attended The Lister in November 2023 for IVF embryo treatment. The Lister excels in providing a conveyor belt approach that often leaves you waiting 1-2 hours for each appointment. The final week leading up to egg collection I was required to come in for blood tests and ultrasound monitoring every day, fair enough. But each time meant 2-3, sometimes even 4 hours of my day gone. The in-patient experience and process after extraction was poorly monitored, with an extremely painful recovery. They gave me a very bungled catheter treatment to help me pass water after egg collection, and the following day I developed a high fever and infection, evidently I was going through OHSS. Honestly I’ve had far better and more competent general in-patient hospital treatments by the NHS than here. In the end they extracted 30 eggs, of the 30 only 16 were usable for ICSI. Of those only 4 became embryos, and after genetic testing only 2 were good, one of which was just a B grade embryo. Pretty unimpressive results to go from 30 follicles stimulated and 30 eggs collected to just 2 embryos, only one of which was of an average A quality. They expressed surprise themselves and then quickly dismissed it as being down to my egg quality and or my partner’s sperm health. I don’t believe the quality of the result was our fault. Other clinics help you prepare your body in advance and tailor the hormones far better for the best possible chance of having good egg quality retrieval. This place was just a conveyor belt and treated you mostly like everyone else. Whilst we have 2 embryos, it was a painful and impersonal experience with very unimpressive results. Expensive, potentially dangerous and not worth it. There are better clinics out there - avoid this one and do your research.

The staff was responsive but the doctor had poor communication, and the clinic felt like a business machine.

We were very disappointed. The doctor was hard to communicate with and seemed unconcerned. Staff were responsive with appointments, but overall the clinic felt more like a business machine than a patient-focused service. We have since moved and feel much better supported elsewhere.

Mixed feelings about IVF clinic. Warm and welcoming staff with doctors working quickly, but it's easy to get lost in the building.

Bit of mixed feelings. The sweet part is that: the rooms are generous (although sadly easy to be lost in the building), the staff is warm, welcoming, nice and friendly and the doctors work really quickly. The bitter part is that: at the …

The clinic provided good support, impressed the patients, and was more convenient than their NHS experience, though not cheap.

Having had a very disapointing exerience with the NHS and being told that we would not be supported and with months between each contact point we were so impressed with this clinic. Of course not cheap but from our perspective worth every …

I had a really good experience at this clinic. I went through egg sharing twice, and both times the nurses and support staff were great — very fast in responding and (for me, maybe a bit too) empathetic. Elena was excellent. I had to postpone my first cycle, and they were very understanding and flexible, always fitting everything around my schedule. During my second cycle, I changed plans a few times, and they were again accommodating — even flexible with appointment times and days whenever possible. They also helped with costs during both cycles and really went above and beyond to make things work for me. They publish a price list on the website which is useful. Most of the time, you deal with sonographers, nurses, and phlebotomists, and they’re all very professional. What really surprised me is that they actually remember me — and even my baby — despite seeing hundreds of patients. Working in this field must be exhausting, especially having to be kind and patient all the time, but somehow they manage to do it consistently. I only had a few short conversations with the actual doctors, but I don’t really mind — everything was handled well, and that’s what matters. I have one baby from my first cycle and am currently going through a second cycle.
