What to watch out for at Lister Fertility Clinic?
- Billing and Charge Transparency
Several reviews mention issues with overcharging and lack of clarity regarding additional costs for tests and medications. Patients are advised to keep careful records and seek clarity on financial matters to avoid unexpected expenses. - Inconsistent Quality of Care
Though many patients report excellent experiences with certain staff members, others expressed concerns over inconsistent care levels depending on the team members they encountered. This variability can lead to frustration and uncertainty for patients seeking reliable treatment. - Potential For Delays and Punctuality Issues
Acknowledged by some reviews, the clinic has garnered criticism for delays in appointments and sessions with doctors or nurses. This busy clinic atmosphere can feel hectic, impacting patient experience during critical treatment times. - Variable Experience Based on Medical Staff
Some patients have noted discrepancies in their experiences based on which doctor or nurse they interacted with, suggesting that expertise and empathy can vary widely among the clinic's team. This inconsistency can cause concern for those with specific treatment needs. - Stressful High-Stakes Environment
The nature of fertility treatment is inherently stressful, and while many staff members provide considerable support, some patients feel the pressure and emotional weight of the process is not adequately recognized or alleviated, especially during difficult treatment phases.
10 latest reviews of Lister Fertility Clinic
This clinic is actually awful. I went in for a general check-up. I have private insurance and provided my authorization code at the appointment, and they assured me all was fine. Since then, I’ve been receiving letters claiming I have an outstanding balance. I’ve emailed them multiple times, but haven’t received any proper response. Either they’re incapable of contacting my insurance, or they already processed the payment but continue sending these notices. Either way, if they can’t handle something as basic as billing, I wouldn’t trust them with my health.
I am pursuing legal action with this clinic. If there is an option to give lower rating to the horrific treatment I have experienced at this clinic, I would have done so.
I am 31 years old and in perfect health. I underwent an egg retrieval procedure at this clinic and was told that 14 eggs were collected. However, I was later informed that only 5 of them were mature. I find this extremely difficult to believe, given my age and health condition. The result was communicated through a simple email without any form of pictures or evidence showing you how and why some eggs are deemed immature. There is no transparency on what happened during and after the process.
The initial consultant was only there in the initial consultation meeting and the majority of the process such as scans and blood tests are performed by the nurses. It was a nurse who made the final decision for whether I am ready for the egg collection.
The final result was communicated to me in an email and after I insisted a call with the consultant, the initial consultant who was basically out of office the entire time provided just basic reply saying they followed procedures. As of today I haven’t received any proper pictures or evidence. Their lab is not able to provide any photo proof on how they made the decision to discard 9 of the 14 eggs collected.
The clinic cannot prove to me on which criteria and on what basis were the eggs considered immature. They simply told you these are immature which could be whatever they say. This is unacceptable.
What’s even more troubling is the way the clinic handled the consent process. Just moments before the surgery—when I was already under stress and in severe pain after the trigger shot, had no time to properly consider anything—the consultant who was about to perform the procedure came to me with a form, asking me to sign an agreement to donate the fluid from the egg retrieval. This was the first time I had heard of such a request throughout the several months I have been with the clinic. I was put under pressure, with no time to think properly or fully understand the implications. I wanted to know why they keep this as a secret until the last minute. This is also not acceptable.
There are also at least two blood tests where the nurses have not performed the tests properly causing me severe bruises on my arms.
Based on the lack of transparency and undue pressure for the consent process, I have reason to strongly suspect that the clinic has either performed the trigger process incorrectly or my healthy eggs were taken without proper consent. This entire process felt manipulative, rushed, and unethical. I believe this clinic failed to uphold the basic standards of transparency and patient care, and I will be pursuing legal action—not only against the clinic itself, but also against the consultants who were involved with my case.
If you are considering using this clinic, I urge you to be extremely cautious and demand complete clarity at every step. My experience has left me feeling violated, misled, and deeply concerned about the integrity of their practices.
Absolutely terrible. It has taken me two years to recover emotionally when I ought to have done a second cycle there an then. I couldn’t bear it because of the emotional trauma experienced by me owing to the complete and utter lack of professionalism from this clinic.
I had planned my entire life for my December cycle (time off work, support from my sister who also booked time off work). I bought the drugs, I had all the nurses appointments and the initial doctor’s consultantion and not once did anyone tell me that the clinic closes over the Christmas period. I found out by chance. This completely supported my plans and if I didn’t stumble upon the information, I would have proceeded with injections, turned up for scans and retrieval only to find the clinic and the hospital closed.
I made a formal complaint to which their response was that they found no wrong doing. I guess this is typical of a situation like this because of course their staff would have lied during investigations.
Anyway, I had already paid so I had to do it with them two months later. Retrieved less eggs than predicted. Obviously medically can’t be proven but I believe this is connected to the stress the clinic caused me. They wouldn’t even give my money back so I could consider elsewhere. They agreed that the remainder of my communication would be with a doctor of my choosing. I chose the Dr I had for my initial consultation who was fine to begin with. But after retrieving my eggs, didn’t even bother to come and see me in person in the hospital room, just a 30second phone to tell me how many eggs were retrieved.
My experience of this place is that this is a factory farm for egg freezing etc. No one actually cares about the women and people in front of them.
I actually hate these people for how they made me feel.
They apply the same plan to everyone without giving specific attention to individual needs. Initially, they created a plan for me, but on the start date, I noticed that the injection dosages were different from what they had originally told me. I had to call them to confirm which dosage was correct. When I reached out, their response was dismissive: “It’s okay, it doesn’t make a difference. Let’s just follow whatever you suggest!” It felt like I was left to manage my own medication. Throughout the process, there were so many errors which showed no coordination between teams. They kept asking me about my medication, my plan as if I was the doctor. I constantly tried to reach a doctor, but it was nearly impossible to speak with anyone. The entire experience felt like being part of a factory, with no attention given to individual needs. The planning was also very poor. Additionally, they had assured me that the initial pregnancy scan was included in the package, but later, I was charged for it. Unfortunately for the money it charges, I would definitely not recommend this place….
“I Highly Recommend This Welcoming and Supportive Team!”
There most welcoming and friendly team to help guide you through your journey and answer any questions. Would highly recommend!!!!
“Dr. Jaya Parikh Made My Fertility Journey Comfortable and Supportive!”
We had a fantastic experience with Dr. Jaya Parikh. I was very nervous going into the fertility journey but Dr. Jaya put me at ease and made me very comfortable, explained the process thoroughly and put down all the options for us. She was encouraging, always smiling, empathetic, extremely compassionate and kind. She also tailors the treatment to individual needs and circumstances for the best individual results rather than a one size fits all approach. I have only positive things to say about Dr. Jaya felt I was in safe and expert hands under her care. The staff at Lister was also extremely caring, supportive, friendly and empathetic including the nurses, sonographers and the entire team. I would highly recommend Lister and Dr. Jaya to anyone wanting to start their fertility journey.
“Frustrated by Unpunctual Appointments with Doctor and Nurse”
Appointments are not punctual, either ones with doctor or with nurse
“Grateful for a Seamless and Successful IVF Journey with Dr. Khalil”
I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Mohamed Khalil and his incredible team. From start to finish, our IVF journey was absolutely seamless. Dr. Khalil made us feel supported every step of the way, with his expertise and compassionate care shining through at every visit. The entire process was smooth, stress-free, and, most importantly, successful! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience or outcome. Highly recommend!
Diverse and Friendly Team at Lister Fertility Clinic Helps Me Achieve Pregnancy on First Try
I had generally good experience with Lister Fertility Clinic. I had egg sharing with them.
The team seemed really friendly. I am not white and British so i am used to be treated really poorly in the UK. But the employees in this hospital were completely different. I felt like in a normal country haha. I guess it is also because the team is very diverse.
It seemed they knew what they were doing, I am pregnant now (first try).
I liked the videos / tutorials they make people complete before they start.
There were some minor issues the main one probably that there are some additional costs for some drugs and tests / drugs and tests when you get pregnant. I think they could be more transparent about that. The nurses were sometimes very nice and lowered the cost.
I also did not really see any doctors, basically only nursers and sonographers which felt a little weird.
Also, they should probably mention how many tests and examinations the process includes. I kind of knew, but kind of (it was a lot).
Mixed Feelings: Generous Rooms and Friendly Staff, But Watch Out for Overcharging
Bit of mixed feelings. The sweet part is that: the rooms are generous (although sadly easy to be lost in the building), the staff is warm, welcoming, nice and friendly and the doctors work really quickly. The bitter part is that: at the second instance they try to overcharge so you gotta be on your toes all the time… The first one took over a month to get corrected, and now just raised the second overchanging complaint. If you experience this make sure you have everything in writing and if you provide them with these evidences I am sure the issue gets easier to be resolved. But still, it is very annoying they do this…
