Poor communication, unhelpful staff, forced tests and stressed experience with Bourn Hall IVF treatment.

Currently receiving 'treatment' from this company and honestly cannot recommend at all. The only people quick to call and follow up are the finance department. Conflicting information given about appointment availability, not assessed as individuals in terms of treatment requirements, little communication about documentation received, tried to force us to have tests we don't need, and very low levels of proactive outreach generally - we've had to chase *a lot*. Really feels like they can't be bothered with us because of our age. The only thing that's been stressful so far in this process is Bourn Hall, which is obviously a significant burden. Only one person we've spoken to has been anywhere near compassionate and helpful.

Administrative service was poor. Overcharged and given unnecessary blood tests. Discriminated as a same sex couple.

If you can avoid going to this clinic, please do. The administrative service that we received throughout was a nightmare, making an already stressful process far worse. This ranges from being overcharged on multiple occasions, given more blood tests than needed, being discriminated against as a same sex couple. There’s far too much to even delve into. Please avoid going here if you can.

We underwent 4 IVF cycles at Bourn Hall clinic, experiencing both successes and heartbreaks, but ultimately getting two healthy babies. Despite a few setbacks in communication, we appreciated the supportive team, active listening, and constructive critici

We have been with Bourn Hall clinic in Norwich since March 2022, after trying to conceive for about three years prior to this. From the initial consultation with the team, they welcomed us into their service and supported us to have all of the relevant tests required to establish about our fertility. After all of this, they then talked us through the options which were best suited to us and to give us the best possible outcome. With this, we then began our first IVF cycle where we had a successful fresh egg retrieval with 5 embyro's created. We then went on to have a fresh embryo transfered in June 2022. Bourn Hall had made our dream come true and we were absolotuely delighted. However this sadly had a heartbreaking end for us, as our son Frank was born sleeping on 24/10/22 at 20 weeks and 4 days gestation. After this, we were not sure we could go again with treatment. Bourn hall gave us time and support until we were ready to try again. The second time was a frozen embryo transfer which was successful, but sadly ended in an early miscarriage in April 2023. We then needed a further break from everything as we could not face more heartache. Bourn Hall gave us the time we needed, and ensured they kept in touch with us and allowed us to reach out when/if we were ready. In October 2023, we tried again with a frozen embyro transfer, which was successful again. We attendend the clinic for the early scan, where I was just over 7 weeks. It was at this scan, where we discovered that the pregnancy was not 'viable', but the lady did not go into much detail about this. We left the clinic feeling very upset and not very well supported at this time. This was the first negative experience we had with the clinic. After two weeks of waiting, we then attended the early pregnancy unit at the NNUH, to then discover that actually the embryo had split into two, meaning we would have had non-identical twins, this was news to us as it was not pointed out to us at the bourn hall scan. This left us feeling more heartbroken and lost. The hosptial then discussed that we were suffering from a missed miscarriage. November 2023, we had surgery to remove the pregnacy, which was devastating for us. In December 2023, Dr Mawal asked for us to attend the clinic for a review, where we discussed to date what had happened and then talked through all of our options. At this discussion, we mentioned about how the news was dealt with, she was very apologetic that this had happened and ensured that she would speak to all the team involved. Training was provided to the team , resulting in better communication between Bourn Hall, the early pregnancy unit at the NNUH and also the way in which bad news was delivered. Knowing we had two frozen embryo's left, we decided to go in again with round 4, after having had therapy to try and process everything that had happened. We underwent a frozen embyro transfer in May 2024 which was successful and finally we got to bring home our rainbow miracle baby....Alice Frankie Goddard who was born at 36 weeks and 3 days on 21st January 2025. Everyone at Bourn Hall were over the moon for us and we certainly felt that they were with us throughout every part of this difficult journey. We are truly grateful for everything Bourn Hall has done for us as a family. IVF can be a hard, challenging and emotional journey, and overal we think Bourn Hall did a great job in supporting us throughout our journey and we would highly recommend the clinic to anyone needing fertility support. Bourn Hall took on any constructive critism we had, dealt with it well and actively listened to any concerns we had to help improve their service and our experience. Never give up on your dreams. With love and best wishes, Collette. Justin, Alice and not forgetting our little Frank (always in our hearts) xxx

Both my husband and I are very grateful to Bourn Hall. We had a fantastic experience with every member of staff who supported us through our IVF journey. I was extremely anxious about the treatment but I was reassured and cared for by the nurses and doctor. They talked through the process, gave us regular updates via telephone or email and responded to questions very quickly. I was very nervous during my egg collection but all staff were very caring, one nurse was there to hold my hand and reassure me. We were extremely lucky our first round of IVF was successful and we now have a beautiful daughter. Thank you so much to all the staff at Bourn Hall.
