Clinically and communicatively negligent in a highly damaging way, did they lie about my fertility to charge me more?

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They insisted I had a really low follicle count, which has now been proved entirely wrong, and put me on an inappropriate pathway which would have cost me over £13000 more.

I had an initial consultation for egg freezing, this was the first clinic I visited. I am 34, healthy, with a normal BMI and no health complications. I was led to believe over the phone I would be a suitable candidate for their affordable egg freezing package (£3350).

However, when doing my scan, the clinician went quiet for 5 minutes then told me so could only find 4-5 follicles and that I was therefore unexpectedly very low fertility. In short, I was dismissed, had to wait nearly a month for a follow up video appointment with another random clinician, who reiterated to me my low fertility and the need for 3 cycles to achieve even 10-15 eggs, and that research suggests my egg quality may also be lower. I was invoiced £16670. I was also told key, extremely emotional information about my AMH levels would come first thing in the morning, but they called me after working hours after 6pm, despite me chasing.

Thankfully, I paid for another consultation at a different clinic, who immediately found 10+ follicles. I have completed my egg freezing in 2 cycles, with a total of 20 eggs collected (18 mature). This is completely healthy and average amount.

Therefore the information provided by ABC IVF was clinically false. I cannot even begin to describe the emotional impact of being (incorrectly) told you have really low fertility and may never have a baby, and I wish no other woman has to go through this.

I have followed the companies complaints procedure, and have been awaiting a stage 2 response for 3 months.

The communication has been extremely poor. Follow-up calls are never made on time, and I constantly have to chase them myself by calling them many times. Even then, responses are slow, with delays in decision-making. Because of this, they lost me as a potential customer. I was initially inclined to go with Create based on their recommendation, provided I received the results on time. However, the ongoing stress caused by their lack of communication made me reconsider. They didn’t even call me back with the results, despite assuring me they would. If I’m already this frustrated even before starting any treatment, I can only imagine how stressful the experience would be after paying a significant amount of money.

The reviewer had a positive experience with ABC St Pauls Clinic, reporting warm and helpful staff, great results, and a convenient location for city workers. However, they suggest improving the clinic's information management system and advising clients t

I went through the egg freezing process with ABC St Pauls last month and am so pleased with my results. The staff are all extremely warm, friendly and helpful. I had great results and would really recommend using their service. It is very affordable compared to other clinics I researched and if you work in the City it is very convenient to pop in for scans etc. My results were even better than I could have initially imagined so I am very lucky, but I know everyone is different. However saying that, I know a few others who have gone through the same process with ABC and also had good results. If I had to change anything about the service I would say it would be ideal to have an app to centralise all information as it can get a little confusing with various different links/locked documents etc. And secondly, the clinic is extremely warm! So make sure you dress accordingly. Wearing a woollen roll neck dress visiting whilst on day 14 or so of stims was a bad idea!! Thanks for everything ABC : )

The reviewer had a disappointing experience with ABC clinic due to a standardized treatment approach, poor communication, and low egg yield. They felt treated as a number and not given options to adjust and maximize the eggs retrieved. They ultimately rec

Last year, I had my first cycle of egg freezing carried out with ABC. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a great experience. First, I feel I should have been made aware that what they carry out at ABC, is a soft stimulation, which is more catered to women who dont want to stress their body (i.e might want to have a pregnancy immediately after the egg retrieval). This was not my case, as I wanted to retrieve the maximum possible amount of eggs to use them at a later date. I was not properly informed and would have appreciated being made aware of this and advised of other options. Although having mild stimulation may be good for some situations- generally it seems to mean that the egg yield is low and then you have to pay for 3 cycles which is 3 lots of doing this process to your body and 3 lots of time and cost involvement. If a low amount of medication is working for someone and many of the follicles are maturing then great but if the scans show that few eggs are maturing then the dose could be adjusted. In terms of the treatment and follow up, the whole process felt robotic, it's not tailored and there is no real management of the expectations. I did have a considerable number of follicles to start with and unfortunately the number of eggs retrieved was less than 25% of the total (I am in good health with no reason as to such a low number of eggs was retrieved which was confirmed by a different specialist later on). At no point during my ultrasound scan consultations was I made aware of the potential number of eggs I could retrieve, and what they could do to increase the number. No data was shared with me during the consultation, and it was not used to change the factors that influence the treatment. Why carry out regular reviews if you are not going to act on the data that you collect? It is worth adding that it was my first time facing the treatment. It seems that the team knew that not many eggs were developing and at the collection the numbers would be very low, but I had no idea and did not get given any options or advice to alter medication even though it was clearly too low. I would have preferred to be kept informed and if an adverse or under reaction is being noted then this could be acted upon or discussed. After the collection, I was quite upset due to the very low number of eggs retrieved and therefore asked to speak with the nurse, who only at that point, told me about a different solution that could be adopted at the next cycle, to increase the number of eggs. To them it was no shock that so little were collected, but I had been left in the unknown. This left me very angry and disappointed as to why this conversation hadn’t happened during my treatment, when something could have been done. I felt I have been treated as a number and not really been given the opportunity to discuss options to adjust and maximise the eggs to retrieve. Given the financial and time toll, as well as the stress that the process has on you, I do not recommend ABC clinic. I feel they play the game of getting as many people as possible, offering a very standardised treatment, counting on the fact that you will probably need more than one egg freezing cycle now. The reality is that treatment needs to be tailored to the person and doses need to be adjusted sooner, especially if you want to retrieve the highest number of eggs (still in a healthy way) for use at a later date. My further treatment has been carried out at another clinic and they have managed to collect almost triple the number of mature eggs.
