About Western Fertility Institute – Encino

Western Fertility Institute is widely recognized for its compassionate approach and strong clinical leadership under Dr. Kumar, who provides clear explanations and individualized treatment plans. The clinic consistently receives praise for its friendly, attentive staff—including nurses Jessica, Lena, Karla, and Emma—who remember patients by name and offer emotional support throughout IVF and surrogacy cycles. Patients highlight the clean, welcoming environment and the clinic's ability to coordinate out‑of‑state cycles and surrogate journeys with high success rates. However, several individuals report inconsistent professionalism among some medical assistants, frequent staff turnover, and delayed appointment start times that cause frustration. Concerns also arise around cost transparency, with all‑inclusive packages sometimes leading to unexpected fees, and questions about laboratory accreditation and procedural handling during embryo transfers. Overall, the institute delivers strong medical outcomes and a supportive atmosphere, but prospective patients should verify financial details and inquire about staff continuity before committing.

What to watch out for at Western Fertility Institute – Encino?

  • warning Inconsistent staff professionalism

Multiple reports describe rude or unprofessional behavior from certain medical assistants, including misrepresentation of credentials. High turnover among nurses leads to patients encountering several different caregivers during a single cycle.

  • warning Communication gaps and delays

Patients experience missed calls, late start times for morning and afternoon appointments, and difficulty obtaining written test results without repeated requests. These issues add stress to an already demanding process.

  • warning Cost transparency concerns

All‑inclusive cycle packages sometimes result in unexpected charges for additional testing, medication, or embryo transfers. Reviewers note that pricing can be higher than comparable clinics, prompting calls for clearer upfront estimates.

  • warning Lab and procedural questions

Some patients allege that the laboratory used for embryo handling is not accredited and report traumatic transfer experiences, including rough handling that caused bleeding. These concerns raise questions about procedural consistency and quality control.

This time last year, having a baby was nothing more than a dream. Our journey to Western Fertility Institute began with difficult facts and some difficult to navigate diagnoses. We knew immediately that growing our family would require expert care, and we did not take the decision of choosing a clinic lightly. We interviewed fertility clinics across the United States (we live in Alabama) — in Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, California, and beyond. No doctor stood out the way Dr. Kumar did. From our very first consultation, Dr. Kumar was calm, direct, and confident. He clearly explained our options, laid out exactly what it would take for us to get pregnant, and gave us a plan that made sense. What set him apart was not just his knowledge, but his certainty. When I told him how much this meant to us, he said, “It’s not if I’ll get you pregnant — it’s when. I do not accept failure.” When that call ended, I looked at my husband and said, “This is it. This is our clinic.” We knew immediately we were willing to fly cross-country to work with this team. IVF is no joke. The amount of anxiety, fear, and emotional weight that comes with the process is overwhelming, and nothing truly prepares you for how many questions you suddenly have about your own body. What made Western Fertility Institute different was communication. Every step of the process was clearly explained. Every expectation was laid out. Nothing felt rushed, hidden, or confusing. I never once felt like a number. I was a person. We were people. If I sent an email, I received a response. If I had a question — even one that felt small or repetitive — it was answered. I was assigned a dedicated nurse and coordinator, Courtney, and her role in this journey cannot be overstated. She answered questions, addressed concerns, reassured me when anxiety crept in, and when I truly spiraled, she seamlessly brought Dr. Kumar into the conversation. The communication was constant, thoughtful, and compassionate. In a journey that is often fear-based and anxiety-ridden, Western Fertility felt calm, steady, and supportive. We began this process with five beautiful, well-graded, PGT-tested embryos. Our first transfer was not successful. Instead of dismissing that outcome, Dr. Kumar listened. He agreed to run every test possible to give us answers and peace of mind. That decision led to an unexpected diagnosis of adenomyosis — something I had no symptoms of and something that could have easily gone undetected. Dr. Kumar immediately adjusted the plan, reassured us that we would still get pregnant, and guided us through months of suppression with clarity and confidence. We trusted the plan, and we followed it exactly. For our next transfer, I flew to California nervous but hopeful. Five days later — earlier than I was technically supposed to test — I saw a faint line. That line is now in my arms. Our daughter, Olivia Grace, is here. She is healthy, perfect, and everything we dreamed of. She exists because of the expertise, communication, and unwavering support of Dr. Kumar, Courtney, and the entire Western Fertility Institute team. Perhaps the greatest testament to our experience is this: I am only four days postpartum, and I am already telling my husband how excited I am for our next transfer. We know we will use every single one of our remaining embryos. We know Dr. Kumar found the plan that worked for us. And we believe, with our whole hearts, that we have the opportunity to bring more beautiful children into this world — because of this team. To anyone considering fertility treatment and wondering where to place their trust: we would choose Western Fertility Institute again without hesitation. We already are. With endless gratitude, Jennifer & Dan

I had a truly wonderful experience with Western Fertility. Before coming here, I was at a much larger clinic where I often felt like just a number. From the moment I switched to Western Fertility, the difference was clear — I felt genuinely cared for as a person, not just a patient. Lens was an incredible nurse: knowledgeable, compassionate, and always supportive. Dr. Kumar truly took the time to understand my case and made me feel confident and cared for every step of the way. I’m so grateful to share that after working with Western Fertility, we now have a beautiful baby girl.

I came to Western Fertility Institute and met with Dr. Kumar right after I turned 41, following several unsuccessful IVF cycles elsewhere. I was heartbroken and felt like I had lost all hope. Dr. Kumar didn’t sugar-coat my situation or give me unrealistic promises, but he did clearly explain a path forward. He started me on medication right away for a new egg retrieval cycle, and for the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful again. After three egg retrievals and one transfer, I am now holding my three-week-old baby in my arms. Jessica, our nurse, was nothing short of amazing—she held our hands every step of the way, answered every question with compassion, and made us feel truly cared for. Everyone at WFI became like family to us. Graduation day was bittersweet because I knew I would miss them all so much. Western Fertility Institute helped me get my heart’s deepest desire at 42, and I can’t wait to be back when we’re ready for our second. Thank you, Dr. Kumar and the incredible team at WFI, for giving us our miracle.
