Why choose University of Kansas Physicians Advanced Reproductive Medicine?

  • check_circle Compassionate and Supportive Medical Staff

Patients frequently commend the medical staff at Kansas University Reproductive Endocrinology for their compassionate approach. The care provided by doctors such as Dr. Lydic and Dr. Marsh is characterized as attentive and understanding, particularly for those dealing with the emotional challenges of infertility. Reviews point out how staff take the time to explain procedures and offer support throughout the treatment process, which can be a source of reassurance for patients.

  • check_circle High Success Rates

Many patients celebrate their successful pregnancies after treatments at this clinic. Several reviews highlight positive outcomes, including successful IUI and IVF cycles, leading to the birth of healthy babies. The expertise of the medical professionals in developing personalized treatment plans is often noted, leading to favorable results for couples who have struggled with infertility.

  • check_circle Quick Access to Appointments

The clinic often allows new patients to secure appointments promptly, a factor that many find appealing. Especially during times when many other clinics have lengthy wait times, patients have reported being able to meet with physicians shortly after reaching out, providing a valuable service when time is of the essence in fertility treatments.

  • check_circle Friendly and Engaging Staff

Despite some communication issues, numerous reviews mention the friendly demeanor of the clinic's front desk and nursing staff. Many patients feel comfortable and welcomed, which is essential for individuals going through the often stressful journey of fertility treatment.

  • check_circle Effective Treatment for Complex Cases

What to watch out for at University of Kansas Physicians Advanced Reproductive Medicine?

  • warning Poor Communication and Availability

A significant number of reviews express frustration with the clinic's communication methods, particularly through their online portal. Patients have reported long wait times to receive responses to important questions and issues, which heightens stress levels during an already emotional process. The inability to reach staff directly by phone has created barriers to timely communication, causing delays in care.

  • warning Billing and Financial Concerns

Multiple patients have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the clinic's billing department, citing unresponsive communication regarding insurance inquiries and payment discrepancies. This has resulted in unexpected charges that patients felt they were not adequately informed about, adding financial stress to an already challenging experience.

  • warning Inconsistent Quality of Care

While some patients have had excellent experiences, others have described their encounters as impersonal and rushed. The care from certain providers, particularly Dr. Marsh, has been criticized for lacking empathy and engagement, with some patients feeling like they are treated more like numbers than individuals with unique stories and needs.

  • warning Long Wait Times for Appointments

Several reviews mention frustrations over long wait times for scheduled appointments, sometimes leading to delays in treatment. Patients have pointed out that the busy nature of the clinic can translate into a feeling of being rushed through the process, which is not ideal when dealing with complex fertility issues.

  • warning Lack of Personalized Care

Patients have noted that the clinic can feel overly systematic and impersonal at times. In certain instances, especially during initial consultations, couples felt that their specific concerns were not given the attention they needed, leading to a perception that the clinic operates more like a high-volume practice than a personalized care facility.

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Courtney Marsh at KU IVF. Her communication style was dismissive and frustrating. She spoke over us repeatedly, contradicted information we had already been given by her own nurse practitioner, and made us feel like our appointment was a waste of time. At one point, she flatly stated there was “not much chance” we could get pregnant at age 42. We are now pregnant. I’ll be including a photo of our current ultrasound because patients deserve to know that sweeping statements like that are not only discouraging, but demonstrably wrong. For comparison, we had a significantly better experience at Blue Sky — more thorough, more respectful, and far more supportive. I would not recommend this clinic based on our experience. Patients in very vulnerable states deserve better, and better is out there.

This is my third fertility clinic and it runs like a well oiled machine! The nurses and staff are pleasant, professional, and perhaps the most important: PROMPT in their communication! I hear back the same day (sometimes within an hour) on nearly all portal messages! Dr. Lydic is my main doctor and he is excellent! He has been very accommodating and respectful of my wishes as a "veteran" fertility and IVF patient with previous successes. He has shown he cares by contacting me personally when I have had disappointing news. Highly recommend!!

It’s so overwhelming to choose where to go for fertility. I am so glad we went to KU. One thing you need to know about choosing KU for fertility is they are very responsive and attentive communicators but all communication is through their portal. Once you lean into this as the main communication vehicle, you can have any and all questions answered (and fears or dilemmas responded to). They are very good about responding the same day or next day (shoutout to Whitney, Mackenzie and Madeline!) if not the same day. You can also message them in the portal to ask if someone can call you (a doctor or RN) and they are good about talking over the phone this way. The most exceptional part of this experience to me is the nurses. They feel like the cream of the crop. Empathetic and willing to rearrange things to help. One time we were on the edge of needing more medication and RN Whitney (earth angel, God bless her) rescheduled an appointment so we wouldn’t have to spend $500 on a vial of medicine we might not have needed. This meant so much to me. Another RN Kelly went out of her way to give me a hug on the day of my embryo transfer and said she was so happy to see I was at this point (she had sat with me while I wept from a setback a few weeks earlier). Another piece on the RNs — on egg retrieval procedure day the entire RN staff was so caring and compassionate - I wish I could remember their names. From the post procedure nurse to the during procedure nurse — they are all so kind and competent and reassuring when you’re feeling nervous. The nurses there really help you feel human. I understand what people are saying when they reference the doctor’s not being personable. They are pretty in and out during procedures — but I did everything they told me to and it worked ! The doctors here know what they’re doing. Also Dr Holoch took time to call me on the phone and talk through next steps with me a few different times and I was really grateful for that.

You are a dollar sign to KU REI. Terrible bedside manner from Dr Lydic. He also ordered a test that didn't even screen for what we were told it would, and we didn't find out until a month later. He ordered extra unnecessary labs I'd already had done and shared the results for. The front desk staff has no idea what is going on and asks you to fill out paperwork, etc. but seemingly have no idea what it is for and can't answer any questions about it. Billing department is a nightmare and told me I had out of pocket costs of over $3K, but nearly everything was actually covered by insurance at $0 copay. Then they also argued with me when I tried to call about it. The patient portal they use is outdated and clunky. At this point, I'm convinced the stress of dealing with this place is probably the reason we can't get pregnant. PLEASE have your referring doc send you elsewhere.
