What to watch out for at TFP Wessex Fertility Clinic Southampton?

  • warning Inconsistent communication

Several patients received contradictory information from different doctors, leading to emotional distress and confusion about treatment timing. In some cases, last‑minute changes to medication schedules caused wasted medication and added stress.

  • warning Administrative and paperwork overload

The clinic’s form‑filling process is described as excessive and fragmented across multiple platforms. Errors in provided forms require patients to restart paperwork, consuming hours of time and creating unnecessary hassle.

  • warning Reception and bedside‑manner concerns

A minority of feedback mentions reception staff and some nurses displaying arrogance or lacking compassion, making patients feel treated as “second‑grade” individuals during an already stressful period.

  • warning Limited access to specialist contacts

Patients report difficulty obtaining direct contact information for high‑risk maternity specialists early in their treatment, leading to uncertainty and delayed referrals.

  • warning Medication scheduling errors

Instances of medication being ordered too close to treatment dates, followed by sudden postponements, resulted in expired drugs and financial loss, highlighting gaps in the clinic’s logistical coordination.

Pros: * Empathetic , professional staff * New location is much better, earlier location in narrow road with limited parking was inconvenient Cons: * To reduce costs, using just in time cashflow practices, TFP expects the PATIENTS to order the tablets / injections from their partner pharmacy, instead of providing directly to patients. The assigned pharmacy is often unprofessional, non communicative regarding delivery schedule, slow to respond. Adds severe stress because if timeline is missed, patient has to wait a month more for next menstrual cycle. * No dedicated named person to contact during off hours. Top clinics provide dedicated WhatsApp contact number for quick responses during offline hours during the treatment, here only phone number available. Inevitably communication is slow, most queries sent through portal are answered within 48 working hours. Phone call queries will be answered after a few hours with a call back, don't expect real time response. *Lots of paperwork to sign in the portal, takes significant time. A detailed heads-up flyer on the step by step process, including paperwork would have been nice. Hope the corporate focus increases on patient experience and not on profits EDIT: I know phone number is given, it's a pain to explain the context and history everytime, when a business WhatsApp number could be more time efficient.

Excellent clinic, we now have a baby boy. The team were fantastic and when we had complications we were given same day emergency appointments which reassured us during a difficult time. Agree that the prescription system could be improved as could the out of hours service but it's the outcome that matters and it was successful in our case (and several other people we know). Overall highly recommend this clinic over others in Southampton, they are statistically better for outcomes in older couples and subjectively the experience we had was very good.
