Disappointing Experience with Unprofessional Doctor—Not Recommended!

Horrible behavior from a doctor in a situation where the news was really bad. The referral for follow-up treatment also did not come without a reminder call. I do not recommend.

Successful IVF journey with Ovumia Fertinova leads to happy and multilingual daughter

We had a smooth journey with Ovumia Fertinova. Two tries of IUI which failed and ONE TIME IVF success. We had a frozen embryo which charged about 250e per year that I cancelled before the second year and donated to RESEARCH because I didn't have good experience giving birth in Finland and neuvola who both don't want to speak English to me, all these news things as first time mother made my parenting experience more terrible as a foreigner without any external support. Nevertheless, I'm grateful for the service this fertility center has provided. Now our daughter is turning 4 years old on Christmas eve, she is multilingual (3 languages), emotionally secured, independent and always happy.

Key physicians include Dr. Mari Sälevaara, a senior obstetrics and gynecology specialist, Dr. Kati Pentti, a leading fertility doctor in Tampere, and Dr. Anna Kivijärvi, a reproductive medicine expert in Jyväskylä. The clinics also employ a dedicated staff of embryologists, laboratory biologists, and IVF nurses who manage embryo culture, vitrification, and embryo transfer procedures. Together, this multidisciplinary team ensures comprehensive care from initial assessment through pregnancy monitoring, providing patients with expert guidance at every step of their fertility journey.
Does Ovumia offer egg donation for IVF treatment? expand_more
Yes, Ovumia provides egg donation services as part of its comprehensive IVF programme. The clinic maintains a registered donor‑egg bank with healthy Finnish donors aged 20‑35, and offers both fresh and vitrified donor‑egg cycles. Prospective recipients receive personalised counselling, donor matching based on physical characteristics and ethnicity, and thorough screening of donors for genetic and infectious diseases. Ovumia’s laboratory vitrifies donor eggs and embryos to ensure high survival rates, and the clinic reports strong pregnancy outcomes for donor‑egg IVF, contributing to its overall success rate of over 80 % across treatment modalities.
What fertility treatments and services does Ovumia offer? expand_more
Ovumia provides a full spectrum of fertility treatments and supportive services designed for diverse patient needs. Core offerings include in vitro fertilisation (IVF) with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), intrauterine insemination (IUI), ovulation induction, and egg freezing for fertility preservation. The clinic also runs donor‑egg IVF programmes, donor‑sperm treatments, and full‑donor cycles for same‑sex couples and single women. Advanced options such as blastocyst culture, pre‑implantation genetic testing (PGT‑A, PGT‑M), and long‑term embryo vitrification are available, alongside comprehensive fertility assessments, hormonal monitoring, and psychological support throughout the treatment process.
Does Ovumia provide fertility treatment for same-sex couples? expand_more
Ovumia provides inclusive fertility services for same‑sex couples, supporting both female and male partnerships. Female couples can access donor‑egg IVF, shared embryo transfer, and the ROPA (Reception of Oocytes from Partner) method, while male couples are offered donor‑sperm IVF and IUI with screened donor sperm. The clinic’s experienced reproductive specialists coordinate legal and psychological counselling, ensuring compliance with Finnish fertility legislation. Ovumia’s commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity is reflected in its tailored protocols, experienced staff, and a track record of successful pregnancies for same‑sex families.
What is the maximum age for IVF treatment at Ovumia? expand_more
Ovumia sets the upper age limit for IVF treatment at 46 years, meaning women up to their 46th birthday are eligible for assisted reproduction, including IVF, ICSI, and donor‑egg cycles. The clinic evaluates each patient individually, considering ovarian reserve markers such as AMH levels and antral follicle count, to tailor stimulation protocols and optimise success chances. While the age limit is 46, Ovumia may offer alternative options such as egg freezing or donor‑egg treatment for patients approaching this threshold, ensuring that age‑related fertility decline is managed with appropriate medical guidance.
What are the IVF success rates at Ovumia? expand_more
Ovumia reports that more than 80 % of its patients achieve a successful pregnancy with the assisted reproduction options available. The clinic’s IVF and ICSI cycles are performed in highly controlled laboratory conditions, and the overall pregnancy rate reflects the combined effect of individualized hormone stimulation, precise egg retrieval, and advanced embryo culture. While age‑specific data are not published, the clinic notes that fresh and frozen embryo transfers both contribute to the high success figures, and donor‑egg cycles show similarly strong outcomes. These results are supported by the clinic’s experience of over 700 IVF cycles per year and its reputation for delivering top‑tier reproductive outcomes across Finland.
What is the history and background of Ovumia? expand_more
Ovumia was founded in the early 1990s and has grown into Finland’s leading fertility clinic network, operating sites in Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, as well as locations in Stockholm, Tallinn and Lviv. The clinics are accredited by national health authorities and adhere to European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) standards.
What IVF laboratory technology does Ovumia use? expand_more
Ovumia’s IVF laboratory employs state‑of‑the‑art technologies to maximise embryo viability and pregnancy outcomes. The clinic uses vitrification for cryopreservation of embryos, a rapid‑cooling method that achieves over 90 % survival rates after thawing. Embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage using time‑controlled incubators that maintain optimal temperature, humidity, and gas composition. The laboratory also utilizes an embryoscope for detailed embryo monitoring and offers pre‑implantation genetic testing (PGT‑A, PGT‑M) using next‑generation sequencing platforms. All procedures follow strict quality‑control protocols and are performed by ESHRE‑certified embryologists.
Does Ovumia treat single women seeking fertility treatment? expand_more
Ovumia explicitly welcomes single women who wish to pursue fertility treatment. The clinic offers a dedicated pathway that includes initial fertility assessment, hormone stimulation, and either IVF/ICSI or donor‑egg cycles depending on the patient’s ovarian reserve and personal preferences. Single‑woman patients also have access to donor‑sperm programmes, egg freezing for future use, and comprehensive psychological support throughout the journey. Ovumia’s multidisciplinary team ensures that solo mothers receive the same high‑quality care and individualized treatment plans as couples, facilitating a supportive environment for building families.
