I was really hopeful that this clinic would provide adequate care as I heard from several reviews, but our experience was incredibly disappointing. Our requisitions were not sent to the lab correctly, and no one was able to rectify this after multiple attempts at explaining the mistake. A nurse told us we were rebooked for our appointment and that the proper requisitions were sent, but she told us the wrong time, and we missed the rebooked appointment. After driving an hour to the clinic, we were turned away due to no fault of our own, but rather multiple mistakes on Olive’s behalf.

My recommendation for anyone attempting to receive services is that you need to double and probably triple check that mistakes aren’t made. Which, on the topic of fertility and miscarriages, is absolutely unbearable. I wouldn’t trust this clinic with anything after this experience.

BROKEN SYSTEM-HORRIBLE HEALTH CARE!

We have two branches of fertility clinics in the lower mainland PCRM & OLIVE. We started with PCRM and felt we were chasing a ghost, so we switched to Olive (our only other option).

We started our journey 4 years ago, and the journey has been horrible to say the least. Treated like just a number, horrible communication and lack of care throughout the entire process for both myself and my husband.

I was 31 and my husband 29 when we started this process, and 4 years later, we are still searching for answers through self-advocacy, because lord knows those doctors (if you can even talk to your doctor) won’t give you any insight.

First, I was told through blood work that I likely am perimenopausal (at 33) and that we should go with an egg donor. We investigated that, but decided to try IVF first. We went through IVF, and on the day of my egg retrieval there was a nurse talking about how she went through IVF and got 29 eggs, nothing worked and got pregnant naturally after that… WITH A BUNCH OF WOMEN WAITING TO GET THEIR EGGS EXTRACTED! I had three eggs and literally thought, well this was a waste of money. We got an embryo and used a surrogate because I was told my lining would likely not support a pregnancy (fair), but was given no additional information on alternative ways to increase my lining ( I have since seen a naturopath Yinstil- would recommend and within 3 weeks my lining is within normal range, in addition the naturopath ran my blood work finding out a was iron deficient, which Olive never bothered to check. The doctor at the fertility clinic in the states, SRM in addition to my naturopath, said that although I have low egg reserve, my tests do not indicate I am perimenopausal).

We used my sister as a surrogate and when they called her for information, they knew nothing about my file and asked her if we even had an embryo. It was so unprofessional- they even prescribed the wrong medication amount for her during the phase before implantation and SHE had to reach out to them for clarification!

The portal and communication is awful, you never have TIME to talk in depth about your case. This has been the most anxiety provoking experience, in a time where you “shouldn’t be stressed”. This whole thing feels like the PUBLIC system, takes months to get an appointment (when my sister miscarried, they asked if I wanted a follow up appointment 3 months later!!) but we PAY THOUSANDS FOR THIS!

Long, long story short, we decided to go to the states and we could not be HAPPIER!! What a difference. SRM is who we are now with and we are getting answers we never had before, we are getting testing done to investigate further (they were shocked Olive never did this) and the care is as it should be in a PRIVATE system.

I am sorry for all those going through infertility. What a FU$KED up journey. I am happy for those who have found success through Olive, but we absolutely thought it wasted 4 years of our reproductive years, and wished we had just switched to the states sooner. The state of our medical system is horrendous.
