About Kinderwunschzentrum Erfurt

Kinderwunschzentrum Erfurt is a reproductive‑medicine clinic located in the heart of Erfurt, Thuringia, specializing in assisted reproduction and comprehensive fertility care; it offers individualized IVF, ICSI, extensive male and female diagnostics, and, uniquely in Central Germany, pre‑implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for couples at high risk of serious genetic disorders in partnership with the Medical‑Genetic Center Munich. The center provides modern treatment protocols, financial counseling through the Thüringer Stiftung „HandinHand“ and BKK‑Kinderwunsch support, and a patient‑focused approach that begins with thorough counseling and continues with personalized treatment plans overseen by a multidisciplinary team of experienced gynecologists (Dr. Patricia Klinzing, Dr. Andreas Lahl, Dr. Franziska Heinz, Dr. Dominik Bräuer), reproductive biologists (Dr. Sandra Leidenfrost and colleagues), skilled laboratory staff, and dedicated nursing and administrative personnel. While specific success rates are not disclosed, Dr. Klinzing’s practice has been recommended by Focus Gesundheit since 2021, underscoring clinical quality. The clinic’s distinctive pomegranate logo reflects its commitment to life and fertility, and its central location, modern facilities, and empathetic support services create a welcoming environment for couples pursuing their wish for a child.

  • warning High treatment costs

Several patients describe the financial burden as significant, noting that additional tests and procedures can feel expensive and that the clinic sometimes appears focused on revenue generation.

  • warning Inconsistent information flow

Some couples experience limited advance details about upcoming appointments, receiving step‑by‑step instructions only during each visit, which can create uncertainty about the overall treatment timeline.

  • warning Occasional staff attitude issues

A few reports mention unfriendly phone interactions, a nurse with a strong accent who sounded annoyed, and moments where empathy was lacking during difficult news delivery.

  • warning Facility upkeep concerns

Instances of expired coffee creamer, limited privacy between treatment beds and occasional cleanliness lapses have been noted, suggesting room for improvement in patient comfort.

A truly fantastic team of doctors and nurses. I can wholeheartedly recommend this center. With the help of the doctors and nurses, we've finally reached our goal. I'm so happy! My anxieties were alleviated when we began the treatment, and also for the next two attempts that unfortunately had to be made, as well as before the examinations. I especially want to thank Dr. Bräuer from the bottom of my heart for his tremendous support. Thank you! But also the rest of the team. You're all doing a really great job. Thank you for the time with you all!

Sperm analysis + cryopreservation (due to hormone therapy) I was immediately approached because I "should have stated that I also wanted cryopreservation after the sperm analysis (assuming infertility hasn't yet occurred). Where should I state that? You can only select the appointment for the sperm analysis online. After a short while, someone knocked on the door of the "masturbation room" and asked if they were ready. Very insensitive, as this is a new and unfamiliar situation. Then, during the consultation about cryopreservation, I wasn't informed that a blood draw was still necessary. So I have to go back the next day. They apologized on the phone... but the employee with the butterfly tattoo yelled at me, saying I forgot to have the blood draw or had "missed it" (in a two-minute conversation about cryopreservation, which is very important to me and also very expensive??? I don't know how to do that). (Someone might miss something there.) Overall, everything was very disorganized and chaotic... it wouldn't be so bad if the doctors didn't blame you and treat you condescendingly. Even as an employee, you're allowed to admit a mistake sometimes instead of blaming the patient. That's just not acceptable. The majority of the team was very friendly, though, hence 2 out of 5 stars.

Our initial consultation at the Erfurt Fertility Center was thoroughly convincing. Upon entering the practice, we received a friendly welcome and immediately felt in good hands. The consultation with Dr. A. Lahl was extremely professional, empathetic, and clearly structured. All previous findings were thoroughly discussed, and possible next steps were explained in a clear and professional manner. We were particularly pleased that sufficient time was allocated for our questions and that nothing was rushed. Our situation was addressed individually, without sugarcoating anything – honestly, respectfully, and on an equal footing. After the appointment, we had a very good feeling and great confidence in the team's expertise. From the very beginning, the Erfurt Fertility Center conveyed that we were in the best hands – both medically and personally.
