About Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine

The Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine (FIRM) is widely recognized for delivering successful IVF and IUI outcomes, with many patients crediting Dr. Kevin Winslow, Dr. Sundaram, Dr. Gentry, and Dr. Erb for their expertise and compassionate care. The clinic’s nursing team, especially Nurse Patty, Glenda, and ARNP Linda Fricke, is praised for responsiveness, bilingual support, and personalized assistance. Financial counseling by Linda in the billing department receives high marks for clarity and persistence. However, recurring billing discrepancies, surprise charges, and inconsistent insurance handling generate significant frustration. Communication gaps are evident in delayed phone callbacks, unanswered messages, and scheduling bottlenecks that prolong treatment timelines. Some patients report unprofessional behavior, repeated questioning of records, and pressure toward unnecessary procedures, particularly involving Dr. Winslow. While the clinical success rate and supportive staff are strong assets, prospective patients should anticipate potential administrative hurdles and verify cost estimates before proceeding.

Repeated difficulties reaching staff, unanswered voicemails, and delayed callbacks from billing and nursing teams create stress during critical treatment windows.

Medical records are often misplaced or require repeated uploads, and insurance authorizations are sometimes submitted incorrectly, leading to denied claims and treatment delays.

  • warning Perceived Unnecessary Testing

Some patients feel pressured into extra opinions, genetic testing, or costly procedures that external specialists deem unnecessary, raising concerns about over‑treatment.

  • warning Inconsistent Professionalism

I am endlessly thankful to Dr. Teresa Erb and the amazing team at FIRM. What started as a challenging and emotional fertility journey ended with the greatest blessing of my life. From the very first visit, Dr. Erb impressed me with not only her kindness and compassion, but also how incredibly knowledgeable and thorough she is. She took the time to explain every option, every step, and every decision, which gave me so much confidence and peace of mind. Her expertise, combined with her gentle encouragement and personalized care, made all the difference. She celebrated each milestone with me and supported me through every moment, and because of her skill and dedication, adding my faith in Jesus too, my dream of becoming a mother came true. The entire team at FIRM was warm, supportive, and attentive, making every visit feel reassuring and positive. I will forever be grateful for this practice and wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Teresa Erb and FIRM to anyone seeking fertility care led by true knowledge, compassion, and heart.

I am eternally thankful for Dr. Winslow and what he has done to help grow our family. However, for both of my last two transfers, the billing department has been an absolute nightmare! This is the only negative I've ever had about FIRM for the last 6 years I have been a patient. They are completely unorganized and unprofessional in their billing department. I did not want to come to social media to hopefully resolve this problem, but it seems that is the only way it will get done. At no fault to Dr. Winslow; I don't think he has any idea how terrible they are. Any patient at FIRM knows you must be paid in full before having a transfer or proceeding with any procedure, and any patient also knows that the office HOUNDS you about being paid in full. Our last transfer was July 7th of this year. At our appointment prior to transfer on July 1st, we paid our full cost of our transfer. We paid our 2025 storage fee for the year by phone on July 3rd. Come transfer, we obviously owed nothing. At both ultrasounds after the transfer, we paid the required payment. At the last appointment when we graduated on August 7th, I enquired about why I received a bill in the mail for the cost of the transfer. I was told that they post cash payments once a month. $4000 of our transfer was paid in cash. The remaining $421 was paid with an FSA card. Our storage fee was also paid with the FSA card. The cost of the transfer was to be $4481, but I was told I had a $60 credit from my reconsult in December 2024 making the transfer total $4421. I have receipts from every single thing we have paid. The bill states the “Visit Total” for “Cryo Thaw and Transfer” on July 7th is $4050 which is less than $4481 or even the $4421 we had to pay. Our credit is listed above that amount. Our payments for each ultrasound post transfer are listed below that, showing the bill total for $3870. Based on the bill, it even appears we were overcharged for our transfer. Nonetheless, we have continued to receive a bill every month since July/August for the cost of the transfer that would have obviously had to have been paid BEFORE said transfer. I have called and left voicemails regarding this matter. In which the voicemail states the call will be returned in 24-48 business hours. This was October 8th that I last called and have yet to receive a follow up call about why I continue receiving a bill in the mail. I owe NOTHING for the remainder of 2025 until I get my storage bill for 2026. Today I received a letter that if they did not hear from ME within 10 working days that my account would be turned over to collections. This was dated November 29th and was received today, December 13th. STOP sending me a bill!! And please have the professionalism to follow up on a call whether or not the issue has been resolved or if it will be resolved. Because neither have been done in any sort of a timely manner with MY several attempts to reach YOU. If Susan, or her supervisor Vanessa, would finally return my call during the next business day, that would be great! Also to add, days prior to my 2021 transfer, I received a bill stating I owed THOUSANDS. After a Facebook review finally got the attention of whomever, it was deleted by FIRM, and the issue was handled. The issue being that they had been so completely unorganized the last 2 years on my account (no telling how many other patients), that they actually owed me THOUSANDS back due to their poor handling of money and organization skills. They need to be seriously audited. Make sure to get itemized bills of everything you have done at FIRM! I love Dr. Winslow and the nursing staff we have worked with over the years, but the billing department needs a serious AUDIT and hiring of people who are POLITE and COMPETENT!

Disappointing experience with Dr. Winslow due to confusion and failure to follow geneticist reports. Dr. Gentry offered better communication but was still constrained by Dr. Winslow's guidance. Needed multiple unnecessary opinions before proceeding with t

My experience with this clinic has been extremely disappointing. Dr. Winslow repeatedly confused our medical file with other patients’, discussing conditions we do not have. During several visits, he asked us the same questions over and over and requested the same medical records we had already provided multiple times. The records team consistently failed to upload our documents, forcing us to resend them before each appointment. Despite reports from Mayo Clinic, Myriad, and multiple other geneticists all confirming that the procedure he recommended was unnecessary, Dr. Winslow refused to move forward unless we paid for an additional, unnecessary opinion. We requested to switch providers, and while Dr. Gentry did a much better job of explaining our situation, she ultimately said she could not proceed without following Dr. Winslow’s guidance—meaning we were still required to obtain more opinions before treatment or proceed with unnecessary steps and costs.

Staff showed prejudice, office had disorganization and poor communication. Scheduling took 4 days. Negative experience overall.

This practice involves politics in their business! If you don’t support this kind of mindset then just be aware that they just told me for my partner to be able to do a semen analysis that he would have to provide proof of a work visa in place of his passport. We have never had problems at any other doctor’s office like this and it is clear that the higher ups are prejudice. In addition to that I got a lot of run around from people in the office and miscommunication that it took me 4 days just to be able to make an appointment.

The reviewer had a very positive experience at the IVF clinic, praising Linda and the doctor for their exceptional service and initiative. However, the checkout experience and some staff attitudes were a negative aspect. Linda's assistance with insurance

LINDA IN THE FINANCIAL DEPT is why this is 5 stars! She was the only one to give us the information about our insurance and is currently following up on an incorrect balance on my husbands acct that wasn’t submitted to insurance (after 4 separate requests). She is a rockstar.. my dr is also fantastic, the check out experience isn’t fun because there are some attitudes for sure. BUT LINDA!!! We almost didn’t proceed because the financials were so confusing, but Linda calmed our nerves and TOOK INITIATIVE! She is the best
