What to watch out for at Fertility Institute of North Alabama?

  • warning Limited Eligibility Criteria

The clinic accepts only heterosexual married couples and applies age restrictions based on religious guidelines, which excludes many prospective patients and can cause disappointment during the intake process.

  • warning Upfront Payment Requirement

Patients must pay for services at the time of the visit, and the clinic provides limited information about payment plans or insurance discounts beforehand, creating financial strain for some families.

  • warning Inconsistent Cost Communication

Pricing details are sometimes disclosed only at the appointment, with no prior estimates, leading to unexpected out‑of‑pocket expenses and added stress during an already emotional time.

  • warning Occasional Staff Rudeness

A few reports describe unprofessional behavior from receptionists and some nurses who lacked empathy, contributing to a perception of impersonal service in isolated cases.

  • warning Perceived Impersonal Interactions

Some patients felt rushed or treated like a number during consultations, indicating variability in the level of personalized attention across different visits.

We started seeing Dr. Davenport in 2021 I believe it was, after a year of trying for our second baby. We found out that my husband wasn’t producing sperm, but after more labs we had no answers as to why this was happening. Dr. Davenport said he couldn’t do anything else for us and recommended an egg donor, sperm donor and IVF. Being since we conceived our first child on the first try with zero issues or intervention, I was skeptical to rush into something we couldn’t even afford before digging a little deeper to find out why this was happening. I read a lot about men taking the medication called Clomid and how it can raise sperm count with little to no side effects (and it’s cheap). I asked if we could try that before taking such drastic, expensive action with the donor route. Dr Davenport refused to prescribe this commonly used medication and said that it would not work. Confusing, because if it’s so cheap and no side effects, why not try it first? (Y’all know why) So, after a couple more dead end fertility specialists, I moved on to find a functional doctor who was able to diagnose my husband with hashimotos from his labwork and absolutely agreed that Clomid could work for us. After 3 months on Clomid, my husband was producing sperm again and we were pregnant. Our baby girl was born in October. I am so happy for the people he’s been able to help, but remember that fertility is a booming business and there IS a reason that you aren’t able to get pregnant. Not every doctor is in the business to help you find those answers. Always get a second opinion.

We are so incredibly grateful for the knowledge, love, and support we received over the years at the Fertility Institute of North Alabama. I was a patient on and off from 2021 until 2025 - the staff I interacted with over that time has remained almost the same. That was really important to my journey and I was able to build a bond with them. They have phenomenal bedside manner. Trust me when I say that you will miss them once you graduate to your OBGYN. 😝 I primarily interacted with Kendra, Joan, Audra, and Taryn. I appreciate everyone so much. I'm 31 years old and have unexplained infertility. We tried timed intercourse and a few rounds of intrauterine insemination with no luck. It took pursuing IVF with Dr. Davenport and his team to achieve my first ever pregnancy. Through the grace of God, I became pregnant on my first transfer. I am so incredibly excited to become a first time mom in June of 2026! I will never forget the moment when the embryologist handed me a photo of my baby and said that she had my first baby photo right there. I cried. Please do not hesitate to reach out to them if you want to build your family. It takes time to figure out what's next. I can honestly say that I never felt like I was forced into the next step and that they did everything possible during each one. Ask as many questions as you need to, that's what they are there for.

I am so thankful for the FINA staff. Kendra was amazing. I had issues ovulating and I had a miscarriage with my first IUI. I ended up trying again with timed ovulation and got pregnant on 2nd try. I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time today and I nearly cried. I couldn't be more grateful for everyone there.

As a military family we traveled from out of state to come back here because we’ve had such a good experience. We did both IUI and IVF over the years. The IVF coordinator, Joan, is an amazing woman and I have never felt so seen and supported. Overall I had a positive experience with all of the staff, it was very organized with good communication. The only thing I could critique in my situation is providing more information/education about the IVF process since you don’t know what to ask when you’ve never been through it before and how an IVF pregnancy differs from a natural one. Thank you FINA, we are forever grateful!
