With more than 35 years of experience and pioneering status in Andalusia, the clinic offers a full spectrum of services such as in‑vitro fertilisation (IVF), intra‑uterine insemination (IUI), ovodonation, embryo cryopreservation and transfer, ROPA, egg preservation, MACS sperm selection, time‑lapse embryo culture, pre‑implantation genetic testing, platelet‑rich plasma bio‑stimulation and comprehensive hormonal‑andrological assessments, all beginning with a free first medical consultation, diagnostic work‑up, ultrasound and semen analysis. The team, founded by Dr. Eduardo García‑Otero and trained in leading German and US centres, combines high‑level obstetrics‑gynecology, embryology andrology expertise with a patient‑centred, inclusive approach, and its audited success rates are consistently above the national average reported by the Spanish Fertility Society. Embryocenter also provides dedicated financing options, coordination with major insurers, multilingual support, and continuous scientific involvement through conferences and collaborations, ensuring comprehensive clinical and emotional support throughout the journey to parenthood.

What to watch out for at Embryocenter?

  • warning Lack of Protocol Transparency

Patients describe insufficient explanation of the day‑2 embryo transfer policy, noting that standard blastocyst transfer timing was not disclosed, leading to confusion and unexpected additional fees for vitrification, thawing, and blastocyst development.

  • warning Perceived Profit‑Driven Practices

Several accounts mention extra charges for procedures that patients felt should have been included in the initial plan, creating the impression that financial considerations outweigh patient education.

  • warning Inconsistent Staff Attitude

A minority of experiences report rude or insensitive behavior from certain doctors, including delayed appointments and dismissive comments, which contrast sharply with the otherwise supportive environment.

  • warning Administrative Delays

Some patients note long waiting times for appointments and test results, contributing to heightened stress during an already emotionally demanding process.

  • warning Variable Communication Quality

While many praise clear communication, a few reviews indicate that critical information about treatment steps and risks was not provided proactively, requiring patients to seek external advice.

Embryocenter - FAQ

smart_toy AI-generated based on information from the clinic's website

Does Embryocenter treat single women seeking fertility treatment? expand_more
Embryocenter welcomes single women who wish to pursue assisted reproduction, in line with Spanish Law 14/2006 which guarantees access to fertility treatments for women over 18 regardless of marital status. The clinic offers the full range of services—including IVF, ICSI, egg freezing, and ovodonación—to solo patients, providing individualized counselling and support throughout the process. Dedicated fertility specialists guide single women through hormonal preparation, embryo transfer, and post‑treatment follow‑up, ensuring that personal circumstances do not limit access to high‑quality assisted reproduction.
Does Embryocenter offer egg donation for IVF treatment? expand_more
Yes, Embryocenter provides a comprehensive egg donation programme for IVF cycles. Donor oocytes are sourced from carefully screened women aged 18 to 35, with rigorous medical, genetic, and infectious disease testing to ensure safety and high-quality donor eggs. The clinic’s protocol guarantees anonymity in accordance with Spanish law and matches donors to recipients based on phenotypic and immunological criteria. Success rates with donor eggs remain stable across recipient age groups, reflecting the advantage of using young, healthy oocytes. Embryocenter’s experienced embryology team handles fertilisation, embryo culture, and transfer, offering patients a reliable pathway to pregnancy through egg donation.
What is the maximum age for IVF treatment at Embryocenter? expand_more
Embryocenter sets the upper age limit for IVF treatment at 50 years, aligning with national guidelines for assisted reproduction. For autologous cycles, the clinic typically recommends treatment up to age 45, after which success rates decline sharply; however, ovodonación allows women up to 50 to achieve pregnancy using donor oocytes, as the donor’s age—not the recipient’s—drives embryo quality. Age‑related counseling includes discussion of expected pregnancy rates, potential risks, and alternative options such as egg donation or embryo cryopreservation, ensuring patients make informed decisions based on their reproductive timeline.
What IVF laboratory technology does Embryocenter use? expand_more
Embryocenter’s IVF laboratory is equipped with cutting‑edge technologies that enhance embryo quality and implantation potential. The centre utilizes MACS (Magnetic‑Activated Cell Sorting) to select sperm with intact DNA, improving fertilisation outcomes for male factor cases. Embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage using time‑lapse incubators that provide continuous monitoring of development, allowing optimal selection for transfer. The laboratory also employs vitrification protocols for rapid cryopreservation of oocytes and embryos, ensuring high post‑thaw survival rates. All procedures are performed under strict quality‑control standards, with certifications from the Andalusian Health Authority. This combination of advanced sperm selection, blastocyst culture, and vitrification technology supports high pregnancy rates and reliable assisted reproduction results.
Who are the fertility doctors and specialists at Embryocenter? expand_more
Embryocenter’s medical team is led by a group of experienced fertility specialists and reproductive endocrinologists. Key physicians include Dr. Vicente López Villaverde, a senior gynecologist and long‑time member of the reproductive unit at Hospital Universitario Virgen de Valme; Dr. Rufino García‑Otero Reina, a specialist trained in Germany with expertise in assisted reproduction; Dr. Carlos Martínez García‑Otero, a gynecologist with a master’s in perinatology and public health; Dr. Rocío Guzmán, a medical specialist in assisted reproduction; and Dr. Antonino Parrilla Márquez, head of the human reproduction unit at the University Clinical Hospital of Virgen Macarena. The team is complemented by embryologists Silvia García del Castillo and María Teresa Cañete, as well as a dedicated urologist‑andrologist, Dr. Juan Manuel Poyato. This multidisciplinary staff ensures comprehensive care throughout every stage of the fertility treatment journey.
What are the IVF success rates at Embryocenter? expand_more
Embryocenter reports IVF pregnancy rates that are significantly higher than the national average published by the Spanish Society of Fertility (SEF). The clinic’s outcomes for the 2016 cycle were audited and verified by the Andalusian Health Council, confirming a success rate well above the median of Spanish centres. While exact age‑stratified percentages are not disclosed, the audited data demonstrate a robust pregnancy per embryo transfer figure that consistently outperforms peer clinics. This superior performance reflects Embryocenter’s use of advanced laboratory protocols, blastocyst culture, and personalized stimulation regimens. Patients benefit from a clinic that prioritises transparent, high‑quality results and continuous quality‑control monitoring, ensuring that each IVF cycle is backed by data‑driven success.
What is the history and background of Embryocenter? expand_more
Embryocenter was founded in 1985 as the Centro de Fecundación In Vitro y Transferencia Embrionaria S.A., making it one of Spain’s oldest IVF centres alongside the Instituto Dexeus in Barcelona. The clinic celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010 and its 40th anniversary in 2025, receiving the Medalla de Oro de Sevilla for scientific contributions. Founder Dr. Eduardo García‑Otero González pioneered several reproductive techniques in Spain, including early hormonal therapies and laparoscopic surgery. Embryocenter is a full member of the Spanish Society of Fertility and the European Society of Reproductive Medicine, reflecting its commitment to scientific excellence and continuous innovation in assisted reproduction.
Does Embryocenter provide fertility treatment for same-sex couples? expand_more
Embryocenter offers inclusive fertility solutions for same‑sex couples, most notably the ROPA (Reception of Oocytes from Partner) protocol designed for female couples. In this method, one partner undergoes ovarian stimulation and oocyte retrieval, while the other carries the pregnancy after embryo transfer, allowing both women to share a biological connection to the child. The clinic also supports male couples through sperm donation and surrogate arrangements, adhering to the inclusive policies of the Spanish reproductive legislation. Experienced reproductive endocrinologists and embryologists manage each step, ensuring safe and effective assisted reproduction for LGBTQ+ families.
What fertility treatments and services does Embryocenter offer? expand_more
Embryocenter provides a full spectrum of assisted reproduction services, including conventional IVF, ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), and IUI (intrauterine insemination). The clinic also offers egg freezing for fertility preservation, ovodonación (egg donation) with a screened donor pool, and the ROPA method for female same‑sex couples. Additional offerings include blastocyst culture, pre‑implantation genetic testing (PGT‑A/D), embryo cryopreservation and thawing, and comprehensive hormonal monitoring protocols. Patients can also access specialized programs such as fertility preservation for oncology patients, treatment of uterine pathology with advanced hysteroscopic surgery, and male factor solutions like testicular sperm extraction and MACS sperm selection. All services are delivered by a coordinated team of fertility specialists, embryologists, and support staff, ensuring personalized assisted reproduction plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
