Good morning, This may be my first negative review, but unfortunately, I didn't have a positive experience. I was truly disappointed by Professor Menaldo's attitude. I expected to find someone with great humanity and tact when discussing fertility with a woman, especially at a young age (30). Instead, I found myself faced with a cold, reserved doctor, and those few words he did say were offensive. That said, I regret having spent so much money on such a treatment.

I contacted this clinic for an initial appointment, where I specified that the ultrasound had already been performed by another office. Initially, the receptionist, in a decidedly unsympathetic manner during the conversation, offered me €330. I insisted for a moment, repeating that we already had a paper copy of the ultrasound and everything. She left me on hold for a few seconds, and then came back, offering me €250. At this point, I told her that the price I was offering seemed excessive, and she simply hung up on me. I had hoped for better, having read the other reviews, and I had high hopes for this clinic; however, this terrible business card is worth putting in writing, urging the management to reconsider the matter.

We chose this center as a "last resort" after trying others and experiencing years and years of failure. Severe endometriosis and very low ovarian reserve always gave me the feeling that I was given up for dead, but my persistence brought me here, where, thanks to the professor's meticulousness and unique methods not used in other centers, we can finally hold a beautiful, healthy baby girl in our arms. Many thanks again to Professor Menaldo, Sara, and the entire team, not only for their professionalism but also for the sensitivity and emotional support with which they accompanied us on this arduous journey! After many failures and moments of pain, meeting Professor Menaldo and his extraordinary team was like finding hope again. Thanks to their competence, dedication and humanity, today I hold my baby in my arms, the most precious gift of my life. You were not only exceptional professionals, but also a fundamental support in the most difficult moments. To anyone who is facing a similar journey, I recommend trusting them with all your heart.

The reviewer had an excellent experience at the IVF Clinic due to kind staff and very supportive care. However, the waiting time was long. Dr. Smith and Nurse Johnson provided excellent care during the IVF treatment.

A 44-year-old patient, after eight years of vain attempts to get pregnant at other centers we landed with Professor Menaldo and in February 2024 our immense treasure was born: Beatrice. The Professor, Sara and all the staff were very human and helpful even in the most difficult moments.

Centro Clinico Di Ginecologia e Fecondazione Assistita San Carlo - FAQ

smart_toy AI-generated based on information from the clinic's website

What are the IVF success rates at Centro Clinico San Carlo? expand_more
Centro Clinico San Carlo reports a pregnancy rate of over 40% per assisted reproduction cycle, reflecting the clinic's integrated approach that combines conventional IVF with natural‑medicine protocols. In cycles where embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage, the clinic has documented pregnancy rates ranging from 50% to 55%, a boost attributed to extended culture and antioxidant fitotherapy. While specific donor‑egg figures are not broken out, the centre notes that ovodonation cycles consistently achieve higher success, aligning with international benchmarks. These outcomes are audited internally and supported by more than three decades of clinical experience, positioning the clinic among the higher‑performing IVF providers in the region.
Who are the fertility doctors and specialists at Centro Clinico San Carlo? expand_more
The medical leadership at Centro Clinico San Carlo is headed by Prof. Dott. Giovanni Menaldo, a reproductive endocrinologist and director with a thirty‑year career in gynecology, obstetrics and oncology. Dr. Menaldo holds multiple university diplomas, including a post‑graduate specialization in natural medicine and a fellowship in reproductive medicine from the University of Lyon. He is supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes additional fertility specialists, senior embryologists, and dedicated nursing staff, all certified by the Italian Society of Reproductive Medicine. This expert group collaborates to design personalized assisted reproduction protocols for each patient.
Does Centro Clinico San Carlo offer egg donation for IVF treatment? expand_more
Yes, Centro Clinico San Carlo provides egg donation (ovodonazione) as part of its IVF program. The service is available to women with advanced reproductive age, diminished ovarian reserve, premature menopause, or genetic conditions that preclude the use of their own oocytes. Donor eggs are sourced from a screened donor pool, and each cycle follows strict Italian regulations, including a recommended age ceiling of 50‑51 years for the recipient. The clinic integrates donor‑egg IVF with its blastocyst culture protocol, which has been shown to increase pregnancy rates to 50‑55% in these cycles.
What is the maximum age for IVF treatment at Centro Clinico San Carlo? expand_more
Centro Clinico San Carlo does not impose a rigid upper age limit for homologous IVF; patients must demonstrate a viable menstrual cycle and sufficient ovarian function to proceed safely. For heterologous treatments, including egg donation, the clinic adheres to the national guideline that sets the recipient age limit at 51 years, reflecting obstetric risk considerations for advanced maternal age. The centre evaluates each case individually, offering tailored stimulation protocols and thorough counseling to ensure that age‑related success rates and health risks are clearly communicated to prospective parents.
What fertility treatments and services does Centro Clinico San Carlo offer? expand_more
Centro Clinico San Carlo provides a comprehensive suite of assisted reproduction services, including conventional IVF (FIVET), ICSI and PICSI for severe male factor infertility, and intra‑uterine insemination (inseminazione intratubarica). The clinic also offers egg donation (ovodonazione) and sperm donation, blastocyst culture with extended embryo development, and embryo transfer (including single‑blastocyst transfer). Fertility preservation is available through cryoconservation of oocytes and semen. Complementary diagnostics such as 3‑D transvaginal ultrasound, sonoisterosalpingography, and hysteroscopy are offered, alongside natural‑medicine support, nutrition counseling, and personalized hormonal monitoring throughout the treatment cycle.
What is the history and background of Centro Clinico San Carlo? expand_more

Over more than three decades, the centre has facilitated the birth of over 3,000 children and has become a reference point for both conventional and innovative assisted reproduction techniques. Its director, Prof. Giovanni Menaldo, brings extensive academic credentials, including a doctorate in gynecology‑obstetrics, a specialization in oncology, and a post‑graduate diploma in natural medicine.
