What to watch out for at CCRM Fertility of Boston?

  • warning Poor Communication and Delayed Responses

Patients frequently experience long wait times for callbacks, unreturned messages through the portal, and reliance on automated phone systems. Missed or delayed lab result notifications have led to missed cycle starts and heightened anxiety.

  • warning Opaque Billing and Unexpected Costs

The billing department is described as unresponsive, providing vague invoices, charging for unnecessary tests, and failing to issue promised refunds. Some patients discovered insurance coverage only after paying large out‑of‑pocket fees.

  • warning Scheduling Errors and Lost Lab Work

Repeated incidents of misplaced blood labs, incorrect appointment times, and last‑minute cancellations have disrupted treatment timelines. Errors such as ordering tests without consent and mislabeling patient records further erode trust.

  • warning Perceived ‘Factory’ Approach and Rigid Policies

The clinic’s standardized protocols, mandatory six‑month STD testing, and limited direct doctor contact create an impersonal atmosphere. Patients report feeling treated as a chart rather than an individual, with some describing the experience as sterile and profit‑driven.

I'm going to try to present a balanced view of my experience with CCRM thus far. I started off with 2 unsuccessful IUI cycles and am now going through IVF.
Pros:
- Dr. Ryniec is my doctor and is compassionate and down-to-earth. Realistically, you won't interact with your doctor much, but I appreciated the initial consult and regroup visits with her.
- Most monitoring appointments are quite efficient (in and out in 30 minutes or less, including labs and ultrasound), which is helpful when you need to have so many of these.
Cons:
- Communication is sorely lacking. You can't get anyone clinical directly on the phone; you have to leave a voicemail or send a portal message, and you're lucky if they respond by the end of the business day even if you call in the morning. One of my messages wasn't answered for a week. My genetic screening results weren't communicated to me; I had to call the testing company directly to get the results when they'd been back for over a week, and CCRM has it set up so results are hidden from patients unless they call the testing company.
- Scheduling availability is limited. I don't know how this compares to other fertility clinics, but the wait for me from egg retrieval to embryo transfer was 3 months because they're so busy.
