Mark and I first visited Serum in Athens in July 2025 for our first face to face consultation with Dr Meridis. I had already spoken with Penny quite a few times before this as Serum came recommended to me by 2 people I know who both had twins from Serum many years ago. My friends told me Serum was like a family and I would be in good hands, they were not wrong. There are not enough stars available to rate Serum in our opinion. From the minute we got there we knew we had found the right clinic for us. I didn’t even bother trying IVF in England as I had already been under fertility for 2 years and not until the last few appointments I had my fallopian tubes tested and was told these were both blocked. This is why I wish I’d found Serum earlier as they doing more investigations and you everything is tailored to your individual needs. So our first visit was a scan and was told due to my age (44) I had only 1 follicle to work with and the chances of success with my own eggs was very low but because this was our first round we had to try my own eggs just once so we can say we tried. So after PRP and Hysteroscopy and transfer 1 we knew it was time to move to donor eggs, after waiting many months with no periods and no follicles. The donor process was very quick and straightforward, Penny and the team found us own donor quickly and everything was explained to us in detail. We ended up with 4 little embryos which we froze and continued our journey. After many trips to and from Greece, which we loved because we made it into a holiday and see some beautiful parts of Athens I then had an aqua scan and Dr Meridis recommended another hysteroscopy, which was a good job I listened to all the advice as my uterus had grown a septum which Dr Meridis removed and I then recovered very quickly. After a few months of rest I had transfer 2 which wasn’t successful, we were disappointed but knew we were in safe hands and hopeful. We then decided to have a long summer holiday and went on holiday for 4 weeks to France, Madrid, Seville and Portugual with Marks family. This rest was what I needed, even though Serum were amazing and everything was so smooth my body needed a rest. We then went back on 14th October for our 3rd transfer and this for us was 3rd time lucky we got the best news that I was pregnant and a little extra surprise of TWINS! We are so grateful to everyone at Serum from Dr Meridis, Penny, Dr Gyparis, Vicky for the accupunture, Gkalia for looking after and keeping our embryos safe, Dora and Chara the midwives, the lovely ladies on reception and Maria in the travel department who was always there to help with travel arrangements. We stayed at the Seerooms quite a few times, which all rooms were so comfortable and clean and literally next door to the clinic. We will always be our donor, who has given us our twins, without this amazing lady our dream would not be possible. I’m currently 9 weeks and 5 days pregnant and we are going to miss flying out to Greece as it’s become part of our lives and we love it very much. We will look forward to when our babies are born to return to Serum to meet their Serum family. This is not just a clinic it’s staff who care about your dreams of having a family. Penny you have been my rock through this, we will be externally grateful forever and we can’t wait to see you all again soon. Communication at Serum is excellent Dr Meridis was always very quick at responding to my 100 questions on email (thank you for your patience) and Penny always available to talk to. Reception quickly send paperwork and prescriptions needed. If ever I was unsure about anything I know I could always ask, even the silly questions. Thank you all so much Mark and I are so lucky we found you all. I also met an amazing bunch on ladies on the Serum Facebook page who I now talk to daily and we all share information and support each other. We are sorry, however, that parts of your ultrasound experience made you feel uncomfortable or that your fibroids were perceived as an inconvenience. This was certainly not our intention, and we take your comments regarding communication and patient comfort seriously and definitely take your comments into consideration. We would also like to clarify that the Aqua scan was recommended specifically because of the presence of fibroids and knowing the importance of a healthy uterine cavity environment for a healthy implantation. The recommendation was therefore made to obtain additional information about the uterine cavity, not because we believed that the fibroids necessarily required removal. We fully respect every patient's right to decline a recommended investigation. Regarding your request of the medical report, unfortunately it was sent to us during our summer holidays and was sent to you upon our opening.
