Great experience with Dr. Karpouzis who made our dream (having a baby) come true, after 4 failed ICSIs in Rome and Barcelona.
Trust in him. He’s very good
“Grateful for Great Results, But I Needed Better Communication and Support During My Egg Freezing Journey”
First off, Dr. Karpouzis is clearly highly skilled in his field, as the many positive reviews indicate. I came in for egg freezing and got great results, which I’m grateful for. However, the process was challenging. I often felt under-informed and, as a result, unsafe, despite voicing this concern to the coordinators. Sadly, nothing improved. The information provided remained surface-level and lacked depth. Yes, the coordinators explained the basics—like when to take medication and when to return for check-up—but as someone new to IVF and egg freezing, I needed more. I was looking for a deeper understanding of the treatment, like what each medication does and more detailed explanations, but this wasn’t offered proactively. I had to google everything. Additionally some costs were never disclosed upfront, including post-surgery medications that exceeded the stated maximum, as well as fees for file opening and an ECG. Before surgery, I never had a one-on-one conversation with the doctor to discuss crucial topics like risks or side effects. Another factor worth mentioning is that IVF Pelargos operates within IASO, a shared clinic with many other doctors, where disorganization reigns. It was chaotic—people were constantly searching for free rooms, knocking on doors, and everything felt rushed. Dr. Karpouzis performed the ultrasound, gave a brief update, and left. There was no space for discussion. I had to catch my coordinator on the go, as other coordinators were already knocking, making it clear that even they were pressed for time. I understand that efficiency is important, and I realize that, given my young age and circumstances, egg freezing might be a routine procedure for them. However, that doesn’t negate the need for better patient care. Simple improvements—like offering written information on what to expect before and after treatment—would make a significant difference for me and save time for them. Even in a straightforward process, clear communication and attention to the patient experience shouldn’t be overlooked.
“Thanks to Doctor Harry and Nurse Sofia, I’m a Mom After Just One Try!”
Doctor Harry is an excellent professional. He gave me the opportunity to become a mother in one attempt, after two failed attempts in other clinics. I also mention nurse Sofia who was always very attentive and professional. Thank you for being part of my story that started out sad and today has a happy ending. I highly recommend the clinic and Doctor Harry.
“Positive Experience with Dr. Harry: Smooth Tubal Ligation and Great Support”
Dr Harry k was very kind, professional, and punctual with his responses. He talked to me on the phone first as I was coming from abroad. Scars are small and neat. The tubal ligation went smoothly. No complications. The hospital was nice but please know the rooms can have 3+ people and their partner 24/7 and no privacy curtains so i would recommend upgrading to single room if you want to sleep. Also bring snacks. They are strict on not providing food 24h after surgery because of the GA so this was the only pain I had – extreme hunger!
His assistant is very communicative and supportive. A great team.
Unsatisfactory Experience with Pelagros IVF Medical Group: Disregard for Patient Concerns and Disorganization
Doctors are men who prescribe medicines of which they know little to cure diseases of which they know less for men of whom they know nothing at all
I can describe my experience with Pelagros IVF Medical Group in 2 parts:
1. Stimulation and egg retrieval;
2. Frozen embryo transfer.
Part 1. Went successful and almost smooth (except one time, when the midwife gave a wrong instruction on quantity of meds to buy). The protocol was tailored according to my blood work, ultrasounds and cycle; and resulted in 2 PGT tested embryos as an outcome (I’m 41).
Part 2. If you are not new to IVF then you probably know that 3 most significant factors to success are: – embryo quality; – endometrium lining; -normal levels of hormones.
In my case we had 2 PGT tested embryos and 8mm endometrium lining. The most important and specific issue in my previous IVF failures was hormonal level / implantation window. It took me 3 years of IVFs and multiple transfers to figure that problem out. I have an IVF 2 year’s old baby.
We emphasized that problem to the doctor in the very beginning by saying that I have a misplaced implantation window and can have sensitivity to certain meds and hormones.
2 days prior transfer my blood work came back with an elevated progesterone level – 79. On the day of transfer it should be within the range of 10-20. I sent a message to the doctor – no reply. I sent a message to his midwife – she replied that I should stick to the old plan.
I was really hesitating about the transfer itself with such a high progesterone level, but I was thinking that there are different measuring systems in different countries (Ng/ml) and if neither doctor no midwife showed any concern or even comments – then I’m ok to continue.
The only time doctor decided to mention that my progesterone level was a bit! elevated (it was HIGH!, not elevated) when I was already on the table and the embryos were thawed out!
Don’t even want to mention that they totally ignored my implantation window (in between 6 a.m to 12 p.m.) and the transfer took place after 1 p.m. because the hospital lost the paperwork my husband has signed back in October and the midwife didn’t make sure everything was ready before. Buy the way she screwed up a lot: wrong quantity of meds, delay in PGT testing results, hospital paperwork prior transfer. And as the cherry on the cake she lied right into my face by saying – “we have talked about the progesterone levels and your chances… “
NO ONE ever recommended me to:
1. Cancel the transfer
2. Transfer 1 embryo only
Right after the transfer doctor was trying to talk to me and he was appealing to recent studies about progesterone level . But I don’t need any recent studies – I already have the STUDY, EXPERIENCE and NUMBERS to follow from the ERA test.
The embryos don’t grow on a tree!!! If you know what I mean…
I never refused to talk to the doctor afterwards. Also I have attended his on-line seminar.
Dr. Karpouzis and Vasiliki: Making Dreams Come True with Expertise and Support
Dr Karpouzis and midwife Vasiliki are a top team. I have been trying to get pregnant for years through traditional IVF in Belgium. Ultimately, they recommended egg donation to me, but because there are huge waiting lists in Belgium, I started looking around Europe. Where they are extremely commercial in Spain, Dr. Karpouzis straight out. He tells you honestly what is possible and what is not, what the costs are and what you can expect.
The first time in October 2022 when I flew to Athens to meet the team and visit the clinic and I immediately felt reassured.
Dr. Karpouzis and certainly Vasiliki are constantly available to answer your questions and provide information, and they are extremely helpful and friendly.
In March 2023 I was notified that a donor had been found and that there were 4 embryos.
After my second transfer in November 2023, I am now 10 weeks and 4 days pregnant!! They managed to do this within a period of one year, which they had never been able to do in Belgium for 10 years.
I am Dr. Karpouz is extremely grateful to make my dream come true!
Dr. Harry Karpouzis: The Doctor Who Made My IVF Dreams Come True
Ive been looking forward to writing this review because it was someone else’s review that had helped me in making this very important decision. I am 47 years old.. I had been suffering with infertility for years and had spoken to other doctors and fertility clinics, but I started thinking it was hopeless. Being from the United States, I could never afford what it costs for treatment here and any insurance would discriminate due to my age. So I started searching for help online. It was exciting to see that Greece was a top destination for IVF because I had always dreamed of going there. As far as choosing a clinic, there were so many of them so how do I choose? I took many meetings with possible doctors and after reading another 47 yr old’s review and speaking with Dr Harry, it became very clear he was the doctor for me. He is very straightforward.. I like that. He is very honest, compassionate and dedicated. I could message him at any time day or night and he would get right back to me.. This is something you will never find in the US.. So I was very impressed with this. I flew to Greece from Boston 3x..the first time was to retrieve eggs but they were not the best quality. We discussed my options and decided after a long heartfelt talk that egg donation would be the best option for me. The second trip my fiance and I went back and transferred one embryo. I did become pregnant, but suffered a miscarriage after getting COVID on my flight home. Dr Harry didn’t give up.. We had a 3rd trip and transferred 2 embryos a couple of months later. I would have gone back a 4th time if I had to because I still knew I was in the best hands.. But it wasnt necessary because I had become pregnant and It was and still is so surreal.. I am now the proud Mom of a beautiful baby girl! I used to read these things wondering would that ever be me.. I’m here to tell you that if you can relate to any of this you’re in the right place. Thanks to Dr Harry Karpouzis and his midwife Vasiliki, who was also there for us every step of this journey, our experience was a dream come true ..Ευχαριστώ🙏💗
Doctor’s lack of post-operation care leaves patient feeling abandoned and unsure of results
Most of the process was alright, except they communicate with you via whatsapp and sometimes delete messages, which is shady. What was the most baffling was that the doctor won’t meet with you after the operation, which is standard care and ethics, especially for something so personal as fertility and egg. It’s like they take your money and run. Highly traumatic. I have no clue about the results of my procedure.
Dr Karpousiz and Team at Pelargaros IVF Helped Us Achieve Pregnancy
I can’t thank the team enough at Pelargaros IVF especially Dr Karpousiz. Dr Karpousiz and the team went above and beyond and guided us every step of the way throughout the process. They were always available immediately and offered quick responses and the service and treatment we received was impeccable.
I can’t thank Dr Karpousiz and the team enough we are finally pregnant.
The best fertility doctor out there!!
“Dr. Harry and Team Made My IVF Journey Easy and Stress-Free – Now I’m Pregnant!”
Honestly cannot thank Dr.Harry and his team enough!! the whole process has been so easy and non stressful, he has always been available and quickly responds whenever I have needed him too. I honestly didn’t think that I would be pregnant on my first time of IVF and honestly over the moon considering the odds in my case and very low amh for my age! I can now say I am pregnant and couldn’t be happier! I would recommend Dr.Harry to anyone who is scared anxious and not sure he is the best you will get! Honestly Icannot thank him and the team enough for everything and making my dream come true.
