My wife and I began this adventure a few years ago (2018) and, on the advice of our gynecologist in Turin (who would prove to be a true angel in terms of both his humanity and his technical and scientific expertise, both extraordinary elements compared to other professionals we met along the way and whom we hope will be a part of our lives forever), we decided to entrust ourselves to FIV MADRID, whose director and founder immediately showed us great empathy. We were well aware that these clinics are commercial enterprises, not volunteer associations. Dr. RICCIARELLI provided us with technical advice to avoid failure as much as possible and, above all, the waste of precious time for those who want to have a child in their arms, regardless of the obvious commercial choices that other clinics, both on the Iberian Peninsula and in Greece, had proposed. We began to frequent Madrid, which we obviously adore, and in the meantime, my wife underwent the protocols required for assisted reproduction, which we would have liked to have in the singular rather than the plural. In fact, although there were no significant organic reasons for either me or my wife, and despite the fertilized embryos raised to blastocyst, adequate in number and of good quality (all consistently Class A), the implants did not lead to any lasting pregnancies. Obviously, despair prevailed over reason, because there were as many as three failures in the space of four years, the last of which in July 2021 was a significant emotional defeat. We considered letting it go. Dr. RICCIARELLI, in a very sweet phone call (it would not be the first nor the last), told us, "Guys, you must not give up. You will try again in due time, but you must not give up. You must believe in it." In November 2021, we decided to make one last attempt following drug therapy for my wife's endometritis, which we had all somewhat underestimated and which only our Turin gynecologist, being our go-to professional in Italy, valued. It will be the last attempt, we tell ourselves, and without disturbing religious arguments, we believe that there is a destiny (sometimes adverse) even in a conscious choice filled with sacrifices, including financial ones, like this one. So, hormone preparation, a trip to Madrid with a longer stay than other times (more than a week), pick-up and transfer... and then waiting, waiting, and more waiting. First the positive beta tests, which had been mocking almost every time before, then all the rest of the pregnancy tests, and finally... finally the happy ending. Two gorgeous little twins (heterozygous, of course) whom we welcomed and love (of course) more than our own lives. Thanks to Silvia of FIV MADRID's Patient Services, who, like a big sister, supported us at every moment, with phone calls and messages, and provided us with every type of timely and prompt response, with the same empathy as the Founder. The latter, along with Silvia, and the embryologist Dr. Jorge (who we know has made an equally valuable commitment) will forever be the angels who made it possible for us to become parents, and there won't be enough time to be grateful and thankful to them.
